EVGA also includes a rear panel port enclosure that fits over the entire rear panel assembly, fixed to the board via the two mounting screw holes on either side of the rear panel area. This is very useful if you corrupt one of more of the board's BIOS chips. One reply was useful but did not resolve the issue. Made three telephone calls to EVGA tech support.
Their tech support is very good but unfortunately they agreed that this is a defective Marvell controller hardware. My concern is that if I replace the board I will need to activate Windows 7 Pro via telephone call to Microsoft.
I did this when I upgraded my X58 board to an X58 Classified board. What happens if the replacement board is also defective?

Another option is to bite the bullet and use the board as-is. A third EVGA Z97 FTW Marvell SATA 6 is to do nothing for about 3 months, and then obtain a replacement of the board from EVGA and hope for a better functioning board along with newer BIOS. My opinion is that you paid for a board expensive too and you didn't get what you paid for. Therefore deserve a replacement.
